Mark Meuser here with some good news and bad news.
The bad news: we’re just one week from Election Day, and Democrats are too many Republicans have yet to vote against Proposition 50. Turnout among Republicans is down compared to 2022 and 2024, so this isn’t just a case of voters waiting until Election Day. It’s a real drop in enthusiasm, and it’s putting our state at risk.
The good news: even though Republican turnout is lagging, Democrats aren’t running up the scoreboard. That means if common sense voters simply return their ballots, we can still defeat Proposition 50.
Right now, four out of every five Republican voters have yet to cast their ballot. Can you do me a quick favor? Take one minute, fill out your ballot, and drop it in the mail today or tomorrow. We need an avalanche of common sense votes pouring into the registrar’s office this week.
As I speak to voters across the state encouraging them to vote No on Proposition 50, one message continues to resonate: Prop 50 is a power grab by Gavin Newsom that hands control to special interests. It gives lobbyists in Washington, D.C. more say over who represents you in Congress than you have yourself. When voters understand that Prop 50 gives power to lobbyists, they quickly see it’s a terrible deal for California.
We’re down to the wire. While I am prepared to fight Prop 50 in the courtroom, I would much rather beat it in the ballot box.
Please text 50 friends this week and encourage them to vote No on Proposition 50. Tell them not to give D.C. insiders the power to pick their next Congressman.
P.S. Here’s a short video you can share with your friends to educate them about why Proposition 50 is such a terrible deal for California: https://youtu.be/z3busuaMEG4
